...back at the beginning of July. I know that this recs update is a little overdue (I think I said sometime end of July, beginning of August). I also intended to add recommendation commentary to every single fic I've posted below, but if I did that, I think I'd delay posting this for another week or two (I hope to add that eventually). I forgot I had a couple of bookmarks in my ipad too, so these recs go back to April. :) Hope you enjoy!

(BTW, authors are still posting fics for [community profile] femslash11. You can find the masterlist of fics (by recipient) on this LJ post.)

Mostly femslash recs: Fringe (3), Glee (15), Harry Potter (2), Hawaii Five-0 (2), Rizzoli & Isles (1), RPF (2), Saving Face (1), She's the Man (1), Sherlock (2), True Blood (1), Warehouse 13 (3) (adult, not work-safe) )

If you're not aware of it yet, [personal profile] leavethesky recently requested more video responses and/or testimonials to the It Gets Better Youtube channel, which is aimed at queers who experience being bullied and/or ostracized. Update: There's now also a DW channel called [community profile] it_gets_better which attempts to serve the same function.

Now for some recs!

Recs: Fringe, Glee, HP, R&I (warning: not work-safe!) )

Thanks to Latest Things, a strange DW-only feature I never knew I would have liked until I had it, I found out that you can download ebook versions of fanfics on AO3. I have yet to try it since my PDA is busted--do you have to be a member of AO3 to use that feature? How does it work for series? The AO3 functionality should complement existing archives of femslash-oriented fanfic ebooks. Grr. This makes me want to get a dedicated e-reader even more. Luckily colored e-ink ereaders (which was on my wanted features list) should be out either this year or more widely by next year, although the pricing has yet to be set.

On to some femslash recs!

Happy Sunday, people!

These links may be old, but I figure it was nice to rehash the past so that we know what's been discussed, and why.

pondering buying an e-reader )

[community profile] list50--"Multifandom fanfiction recommendation."
"Here, instead of writing well-considered, thorough recommendations for 50 stories over a period of months [which is what [livejournal.com profile] rec50 does], we list 50 stories all in one go. It's much faster, but (unless someone gets to feeling particularly conscientious) the reader gets much less information about a particular story. Of course, depending on the specificity of a list's theme, a reader may not need many particulars. Themes like 'incest fic' or 'threesomes' aren't exactly vague." They've even got an index, and it looks like there's some femslash, but not much! I urge all femslash rec'ers to contribute a 50 fic rec list sometime. :)

If anyone needs a DW invite code, I still have a bunch here (update: all taken). I figure this might be a good time to bring it up since [personal profile] zulu and [personal profile] angharad_gov both brought up some LJ fail. If you're worried about security regarding parts of f-locked LJ posts being leaked to the whole wide world (through Facebook and/or Twitter), you might want to read about the vulnerabilities more carefully and take some steps to reduce exposure. Update: This doesn't mean that DW is perfect, either, given that DW users are given the choice to import other people's comments from their journal onto DW and the original commenter has no real way of veto-ing this unless they delete their "recent comments," if that. So, a PSA: If you intend to import, please think about the possible consequences if you make a private post public.

"Frankie isn't the only one who's starting to realise that his sister would crawl over broken glass for her so-called 'friend.'"

I found this work to be extremely sweet.

...here due to eneri, who wanted to read some Rizzoli & Isles after texting me today about the sheer gayness of it. The series is turning out to be somewhat light-hearted in tone, which is why many of the fics that I'm recommending on this post are completely tongue in cheek.
