How Hard Is It To Get a Cartoon Into The New Yorker? by James Sturm (Slate)

as companionable as solitude by [personal profile] eruthros (Fringe/The X-Files, Olivia Dunham/Dana Scully)
Walter waves his doughnut in the general direction of the desiccated corpses and the cocoon, spraying Broyles' coat with powdered sugar. "You know, this reminds me of Dana's description of prehistoric bug attacks some years ago."

Just so you know, comments will be brief because I'm on vacation and I actually share this PC with my hosts. Delicious probably won't be updated until I get back to homebase and figure out how to hack Delicious.com for ff4 past the outdated security certificates. If someone has already figured that out, I'd appreciate it if you could drop a comment. :)
Edit (6/6/11): Delicious now updated! Kudos to [personal profile] greenteafarm for figuring out the AVOS beta add-on!

[personal profile] false_maria posted some beautiful Urd/Marller AMG yuri fanart that's worth a mention here and here (NSFW).

[community profile] fem_thoughts is proving to be a fruitful ground for discussing and thinking about particular concepts with its various mini-meta about femslash. Recently [personal profile] snowynight kindly started off a discussion about asexuality and femslash which is quite rare but is worth thinking about.

Sherlock

For the following prompt: "There's a case at a secondary school/University, some series of threats or string of bizarre murders that has the entire campus shaken. In the course of the investigation, Sherlock and John meet two students. One is well liked if not popular, athletic, intelligent without showing off, involved only because they were close to a victim or witnessed something important. The other is a loner with no regard for social norms, an insufferable genius, always in the chem lab, and involved because everyone, including teachers/professors, think they're behind everything."

I spotted this series floating around in Delicious. thoughts... )

I intended to rec the following fic as a WIP but ended up doing a critical review instead...Funny how that goes. I'm a little rusty with reviewing so bear with me.

Lost in the Past by [livejournal.com profile] red_hope1 (AU Cameron/OFC, WIP, T:SCC)
What if Skynet sent Cameron back to the wrong time? What if she ended up as a gladiator in Rome? "Stagira Magni, a wealthy Roman widow, is being formally courted by an older suitor. However, she is unknowingly wooed by a female gladiator, who is powerful, beautiful, and a rumored demi-god. Stagira is determined to find out more about the mysterious gladiator despite the risk it may pose to Stagira."

"This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force."
--Dorothy Parker

Note: When I was on LJ I wrote fanfic reviews in several genres (Hospital Central, Star Trek: Voyager, Sunshine, and The Devil Wears Prada). I also commented on a few alt/ubers and their mass market publication potential. Since my move to DreamWidth in April 2010 I have decided to start anew.
