20. Yes, but what are your thoughts on yaoi?
There'll be times (once in a blue moon) when I get into a mood and just pick a yaoi scanslator to go through some marathons of their completed series. I tend to switch pretty quickly if the storyline or artwork really sucks. I have borrowed my real life friend's collection of yaoi; it's not a secret or anything. I don't even care about being caught reading it in public in front of close friends. Since I don't read yaoi all that often, it usually takes me a while to find the authors and series with the good storylines. Surprisingly the yaoi that I come across seems to be a lot more "hardcore" than most of the yuri I read.

21. What's your favorite thing about Dreamwidth?
The usefulness of the coding (across platforms, the expand and collapse cut tags, Latest things, etc). Articulate users will come and go (and so might the polite, idealistic, bright and bushy tailed moderator approach) but so long as there is strength in the coding and there are improvements of the "I didn't know I wanted that, but now that I have it, I don't think I can live without it" variety, this platform will probably go a long way.

18. What don't you talk about here, either because it's too personal or because you don't have the energy?
Food. Travels. Work. Real Life. lol

17. How many people on your reading list do you know IRL?
I don't know any of them in real life. :)

16. What are you glad you did but haven't really had a chance to post about?
I kind of like taking a break from rec'ing and doing this meme for a few weeks. It lets me refocus my energies on some of the more important things in life for a little while, anyway. lol Let's just say that it's been a busy few weeks. :)

15. What's your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
Bioware's Dragon Age: Origins. The world building is pretty awesome; the fact that there are so many starting storylines and character builds is another plus. If you want to see what the gameplay is like, Toegoff has a really good blind Let's Play. There's also a sequel called Dragon Age II which has its pros and cons (Toegoff also has a blind Let's Play of that).

DW has a pretty active community for DA:O and DA:II at [community profile] peopleofthedas.

14. Did you have a gateway fandom? Still in it? Why or why not? Is there a community for it on DW?
medium-length answer about ああっ女神さまっ, DWP, Glee, and HP )

13. Do you have any unique interests on your user profile? What are they? How'd they get there?
Apparently I'm the only one on DW who's proclaimed an interest on "uber" fics. The question seems strangely worded, but I'm guessing it's asking how I got into "uber" fics. The whole "uber" genre really took off thanks to Xena (the soulmate reincarnation plotline, in the form of Mel and Janice, as well as other "versions" in the series). If you haven't read a Mel and Janice story, try The Pappas Journals by Elaine Sutherland and/or Vivian Darkbloom's Mel and Janice series. Outside of Xena, the only other "canon" uber series is probably found in The Mummy series, with Evie/Anuk Su-Amun, and I've already pointed the way to [personal profile] fembuck's A Princess Tale and Fear Not The Wind previously.

12. What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile? Why?
rec, yuri, lesbian, femslash, fiction
These are what most of the public posts on the journal are about.

11. What features do you think Dreamwidth should have that it doesn't currently?
I don't know if it's already been suggested (or if it's even possible), but how about the possibility of implementing cut tags (or something similar) in the comments, so that people can hide spoilers in response to a question?

10. Tell me about your default icon.

[livejournal.com profile] timing made it. I don't know what manga or anime it's from but it's got a nice neutral contemplative look about it. It's different from the one I have at LJ (see right) because it fit my previous DW layout color palette better. I used to make all of my own icons but I haven't installed Photoshop on this laptop...lol.

9. Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
I'm going to re-interpret this question as 'who you think you should meet.' *thinks* Hmm....I'd probably want to meet [personal profile] mizuno_youko because I think we'd have the most to talk about (I'd like to pick your brain and see your manga collection!), and...probably [personal profile] ciccipicci, because I will use any excuse to fly to Italy. LOL j/k.

Realistically though I'd like to meet up with my good friend [livejournal.com profile] moriyosi, because it's been several years since the last time we've done so (Boston or Berlin is fine).

Edit: Looks like [personal profile] ciccipicci deleted his/her DW. (whoops, hopefully it wasn't something I did. I just think Italy is very beautiful and would love to visit it again. lol)

8. What community do you wish was more active?
[community profile] fringetv_at_dw. Maybe everyone's waiting for the season to end, so they can write epic fanfics? :)

7. What is your favorite community on Dreamwidth?
I would like to say [community profile] girlgay or [community profile] ebooks but to be honest, I like reading widely, and beyond my network. DW's Latest Things feature can be pretty addictive. There have been times where I've been a little shocked at what people are posting on the platform, but for the most part I enjoy broadening my horizons.

6. What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
I'm a speed reader. I sometimes have a short attention span and often will have to reread WIPs from the very beginning to make heads or tails of it. English is actually my third language.

5. How about when you're not on the computer?
Then I'm probably out and about, enjoying life! :) Think coffee shops, bookstore browsing, people watching, and watching art house films.

4. What do you do online when you're not on DW?
I do a lot of my fanfic reading on DW and LJ, but recently the silly side of fandom seems to have exploded on Tumblr, so sometimes I go lurk at Nightshifted's Tumblr to see the freshest and crackiest Glee pictures ever for a good laugh.

I explore and listen to a lot of new music and artists on soundcloud and last.fm. A couple of recent finds: Go Go Bizkitt! and Robotaki. I used to play online MMORPG's, like Silkroad Online and World of Warcraft.

I also read a lot of manga. Recent manga I enjoy include Ooku: The Inner Chambers, Otoyomegatari, and Hourou Musuko, though I enjoy silly ones like Skip Beat! and W-Juliet too. Classic ongoing series that I still keep tabs on are Crystal Dragon and Glass Mask.

3. Do you crosspost? Why or why not?
No, I don't crosspost. Most of my posts are admittedly curated linkspams; this journal is not in and of itself a content generator, so I don't see a point in cross-posting. If the content of this journal was directed towards something more substantive and socially responsible (saving lives, maybe), I would probably consider it. Why cross-post, when there's RSS and Atom feeds that can pretty much do the same thing? :)

2. Why did you choose your journal name?
It was the same one that I had used on Livejournal. It also connotes symbolic importance to me; that of journeys past, paths treaded. It's derived from Einmyria, the first daughter of Loki, the god of mischief and bringer of Ragnarok in Norse Mythology. I had used Loki as a writing device in a past life as a fanfic writer, and thought it might be a useful name to evoke both mischief and chaos, as both are powerful plot devices in storytelling.

The little I know of Loki comes from what I've read as a kid from the translated "Thors Brudefærd" album in the Valhalla series, which I remember as being epic. Unfortunately, I don't think it's been translated to English.

Oh My Godddess!, which uses a lot of Norse mythology, was also my first fandom, so the name pays homage to that, in a way. It also brings back memories of some good friends in RL and the things we've done together. :D
