...here due to eneri, who wanted to read some Rizzoli & Isles after texting me today about the sheer gayness of it. The series is turning out to be somewhat light-hearted in tone, which is why many of the fics that I'm recommending on this post are completely tongue in cheek.

This fic probably has the best first paragraph. Completely unexpected, it kept me reading (and laughing), for a good long while.

There's nothing wrong with a little healthy role-playing. ;D

Going to Hell in a Handbasket and Recipe for Success by darandkerry (Jane/Maura)
"Angela Rizzoli strikes again."

darandkerry sets just the right tone for this set-up comedy. I thought that Maura would have had to climb on Jane's lap or something for her to get a clue, but otherwise, it's all in great fun.

Handkerchiefs by art_and_lies84 (Jane/Maura, warning: anal)
Dr. Isles is serious about all things research. Jane obliges as her guinea pig, of sorts.

There's just something about that handkerchief code that amuses me. Kind of like the secret handshake. You know you've been around the femslash block when you know the reference before the author called it, though. *sigh*

All right, so not everything in life is fun and games. Here I'm recommending this fic for character insight and character depth. In all seriousness I'd like to see some deeper, angstier fics about how Jane copes (or rather doesn't) with her issues, because it's addressed quite infrequently in the actual series, and only through flashbacks.
