It's been a while since my last rec...

Glee
and isn't this exactly where you'd like me14 by [archiveofourown.org profile] thememoriesfire (Quinn/Rachel, stripper!quinn, warning:BDSM) (WIP)
"Rachel is doing a show in Vegas for 3 months and ends up getting a lap dance from Quinn."

So this is a fic that I had rec'ed in its earlier incarnation, but one that the author took down for revision and is much longer. If you prefer to read it via ff.net, here is the link to the ff.net version. Revisions include deleting the sick Beth plot device and deleting the incredibly rushed ending. Some of the revision works, but I'm not so sure that the new D/S element necessarily adds anything. It reads as being strangely detached, compared to some of the more intense scenes earlier on. I think that [personal profile] musyc's HP D/H fic Ardent Bonds (parts 1, 2) and Amazume Ryuta's Nana to Kaoru series (which also includes Nana to Kaoru Arashi) does the D/S dynamic better, in terms of intensity and sexiness, but I appreciate TMF's attempts.

Assured of Certain Certainties51 by [archiveofourown.org profile] thememoriesfire (Quinn/Rachel, Quinn/Rachel, Finn/Sam, genre:bodyswap) (WIP)
"An accident in the chemistry lab after school has Quinn and Finn switching bodies. Now they have to live each other's lives."

I like it thus far for its character studies and it's exploration of gender and social expectations. I've actually read quite a number of body swap fics before, but there's a good case for this work actually elevating the genre beyond its gimmicky premise. The whole Rachel Berry birthday wooing scene is a tad dramatic (re-enacting Austin? Really?) but the interactions get progressively hotter. Given that it's supposed to be 80-odd chapters and is supposed to be part 1 of a mapped out trilogy, I'm currently enjoying the episodic nature of the updates. If you prefer to read it via ff.net, here is the link to the ff.net version.

Influence by Sappho's Ghost / [livejournal.com profile] sowhat_ilied (Santana/Brittany, warning:drugs, angst)
Brittany is perpetually cast as the dumb blonde, but the reasons behind her demeanor are more complex than that. She looks back on her childhood, her relationship with Santana, and the life-altering effects the decisions of her youth had on her future.

This work is actually a pretty interesting read about social expectations and the extremes people go to in order to fit in.

The Wrong Man by [archiveofourown.org profile] snegurochka (Draco/Hermione)
"A man who looked very much like Draco Malfoy walked into Hermione's office, brandishing a piece of parchment and a pitch-perfect insult. That would have been right before she grabbed him by the front of his robes and dragged him inside, silently thanking her husband, the inventors of Polyjuice potion, and anyone else who might have had a hand in making her secret fantasy come to life for Valentine's Day. That also would have been one hour and fifteen minutes ago."

I think I've mentioned how I love how [personal profile] snegurochka_lee manages to do her own twist on fantasy tropes, and this is more of the same. It also doesn't hurt that it's super hot. :P

Under Different Stars by [personal profile] woldy (Luna/Tonks)
"They're so different that Tonks doesn't understand why it works, but somehow it does work."

A very unique dynamic! :)

Warehouse 13
Beautiful Disaster by [personal profile] trancer21 (Myka/Olivia, AU, Fringe x-over)
"Myka‘s new partner might not be exactly what she wants, just exactly what she needs."

I love the pairing, I also love the idea of them trying to one up each other on the weirdness! Perfect setting! I still think Olivia might win, though, if the game went on! Now I kind of wish there was case-fic of these two; I wonder what the Myka on the other side would be like...
