I usually like longer, angstier works, but I'm always interested in a good read ;)

...And Beyond (Part 1 and Part 2) by Silk (uber, unfinished)
A Celtic version of bard meets warrior with tortured past. Although this story has long since been abandoned, I think it's still worth a look. This is one story that could have very well surpassed the superficiality of the uber category easily if the author chose to do so; the background is richly exotic, with an air of mystery. There is also a certain sense that the meeting between the two protagonists signal only the beginning of a larger, more epic journey.
