The Recs Update

Managed to catch The Flowers of War (Youtube Trailer) at the movies this weekend. There's a lot of graphic violence, but it's beautifully directed and the acting is great. A very powerful film that made me reflect on humanity. Just, uh...remember to bring tissues.

Glee
Beautiful When You Don't Try by
itwasadream (Rachel/Quinn)
"Quinn is an up and coming photographer charged with photographing the award winning Rachel Berry."
At 111 chapters, this story is a fairly long one, but generally reads well. The premise vaguely reminds me of the movie High Art (1998) (IMDB), though without the edginess. It's not without issues; the author seems to have changed her mind with where she wanted to take the story somewhere around a third of the way through. I also find marked differences in the way some original female characters are characterized, particularly when they are first introduced and when they later become regularly re-occurring minor characters. Despite these issues, the author manages to spin an interesting tale, and the chemistry between Quinn and Rachel is quite nice.
Iron Man
The number of femslash recs for this genre on pinboard seems to have risen. Here are a few that caught my eye, whether it be for its depiction of f!Tony as a damaged genius, or the nice action between Pepper and Natasha. :D
Red, Red, Gold by

"Her name is Tasha Stark, and you won't break her."
Something Different by
tsukinofaerii (Pepper/Natasha, Pepper/Tony)
"Roughly a year after the events at the Stark Expo, Pepper's "stable-ish" relationship with Tony has deteriorated into more —ish than stable. Tony has been keeping secrets, and he's brought home a mystery blond who occupies all his time—including the time he should have been using for work. While holding things together, Pepper finds herself getting much, much closer to Natalie. But Natalie may be hiding a few secrets of her own."
Thirty Two Flavors (and then some) by
gyzym (Antonia/Pepper, genderswap)
"Tony wears her lips red, red, red, rich and full, painted on like armor, because she likes to. Because it looks good. Because no one expects it of her. Because it’s the right call."
