Last update of the year.

I wish everyone a most joyous new year ahead!
Reading
BBC: Bend It Like Beckham was the "1st ever Western-made film to air on TV" in North Korea. To celebrate the occasion (any mention of subtext probably being censored), here's some femslash from that genre (AO3, femslash_today tags), because there can never be enough about girls playing football. I still think that a Bend It Like Beckham/10 Things I Hate About You/She's The Man cross-over fic would be epic.
Writing resource: A brief guide to handcuffs (and how to escape them). (kudos to
cobweb_diamond)
Just Another Day In The Secret Base by
ankaret (Disney Princesses Superheroes - kruegan, gen)
"It's just another day in the secret base, and PrincessForce are dealing with internal conflicts, an intruder, a prince in need of rescue and a misplaced rabbit." A fun and very clever read. Oh, the bickering...
Recs
Fringe
when we’ve been here a thousand years by
blahnicity (Olivia/Astrid)
"Astrid centric. Dealing with working in the fringe, and alongside Olivia Dunham, and coming to terms with all of it."
Interesting character study.
HP
Warning: Het!
A Love Song Like the Way It's Meant to Be by anonymous (HP/PP, SM/RW)
"As Rose tries to find a way to tell her family she's in love with the son of their old enemy, she is heartened (and a bit weirded out, honestly) to discover that her uncle is shagging someone so much worse."
A very cute story. I like the relationship dynamics all around.
Jouissance by
i_octopus (DM/RW, RW/AW, warning: incest, angst)
"Draco, in atoning for the sins of his past, has lived a life of duty without passion. His life has been a good performance until he meets Rose. This is the story of their fatal, erotic obsession."
Interesting read but not one for the faint-hearted. A beautifully crafted exercise in tragedy.
Sherlock
pet not smiling wolves in arched doorways by
bedamn (Harry Watson/Clara) (kudos to
tristesses)
"How Harry Watson gradually integrates herself back into her brother's life through text messaging, until he goes and bollockses it all up by disappearing off the face of the planet." The related We Fall Down Before We Start is also quite intriguing, particularly for characters who haven't yet made an appearance in the series.
Harry and John's texting is hilarious! Harry/Clara's relationship sounds like another hurt/comfort dynamic in the making but I can't seem to look away. The writing is just too good. lol
Update: 1/1/11 - Edited The Notables and several posts for Yuletide author reveals. I was surprised to have rec'ed someone on my reading list. ^^;;;
