Little Women
your mouth was a trap door. by [livejournal.com profile] corleones (Jo/Laurie, Jo/Friedrich, Laurie/Amy) (kudos to [personal profile] romantical)
Modern AU. "[M]isbegotten endings, love letters that never got written and always, always the road never taken. [T]ogether, they burn brighter than she ever could alone."

It's been ages since I've read the original but this modern adaptation paid wonderful homage. [personal profile] romantical said it was the achiest rendition she's come across, and that's true too.

Sherlock
There's just something about this relationship dynamic that seems to require an aptitude for jarring, subtle, and yet nuanced narrative writing.

In Arduis Fidelis by [archiveofourown.org profile] Mad_Maudlin (Sherlock/Watson, genderswap)
"Jane Watson likes to think of herself, deep down inside, as a good girl. She is not a drunken mess like Harry. She did not get fat like Mike. Unlike 327 British soldiers and contractors, she is not dead. She got top marks and she served her country and she has not got a selfish bone in her body. That may actually be part of her problem."

you remind me of a firework, boy by [archiveofourown.org profile] verity (Sherlock/Watson, genderswap)
"Joanna Watson has had a lot of girlfriends, and they've all had different soundtracks."
