Modern AU. "[M]isbegotten endings, love letters that never got written and always, always the road never taken. [T]ogether, they burn brighter than she ever could alone."
It's been ages since I've read the original but this modern adaptation paid wonderful homage.
romantical said it was the achiest rendition she's come across, and that's true too.

There's just something about this relationship dynamic that seems to require an aptitude for jarring, subtle, and yet nuanced narrative writing.
