New Twitter Research: Men Follow Men and Nobody Tweets (kudos to lian)
Based on a survey of 300,000+ users: "Although men and women follow a similar number of Twitter users, men have 15% more followers than women. Men also have more reciprocated relationships, in which two users follow each other. This 'follower split' suggests that women are driven less by followers than men, or have more stringent thresholds for reciprocating relationships."

Where Are the Women in Wikipedia? (kudos to terriko)
"...despite [Wikipedia's] openness, surveys suggest that less than 15 percent of Wikipedia's contributors are women."

(2) Two "Daily" newspapers: showcasing the technology disparity between the rich and poor
US$0.14 a day: 'The Daily' launched for iPad* (BBC) vs Alfred Sirleaf's free 'Daily Talk' chalkboard newspaper in Monrovia, Liberia (Monocle).

Wonderful and powerful piece focusing on Olivia and Alt!Olivia. This piece reminds me of John Noble's words in his interview for "Fringe - Creation & Destruction" (Youtube) about balance (warning: spoilers for current season).

This feels like several lifestories melded into one, but I guess if you're past a certain age it might seem that way.

Very interesting Wilhelmina character piece.

"Rose is your surrender. You will not, cannot, be a Muggle now. You are not going to get another chance to escape." As idella puts it, it's "a chilling look at Rowling's heteronormativity."

I think I remembered reading a longer piece that had similar undertones but this one is certainly thought provoking.
